Abstract: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Management in Breast Cancer Survivors at Risk for Lymphedema: A Markov Model

چکیده
INTRODUCTION: Secondary lymphedema is a chronic and debilitating complication of breast cancer therapy affecting more than one in five breast cancer survivors.1 In this patient population, patient-reported outcomes may be more important in predicting long-term health-related quality of life (HRQoL) than clinician measured outcomes.2 Cost-effectiveness analysis can be used to compare different treatment modalities based on HRQoL.3 The aim of this study was to (1) assess reported HRQoL measures following vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT) and complex decongestive therapy (CDT) and (2) determine the suitability of current data to design a costeffectiveness analysis able to inform lymphedema treatment decisions.

Suday, O cber 8, 2017 INTRODUCTION: Breast cancer (BC) survivors that have had an axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) have an increased risk of developing upper extremity lymphedema. The problem faced by both patients and clinicians is the decision to proceed with a carpal tunnel release (CTR) if the patient does not respond to non-surgical management. The purpose of this study was to determi...

متن کاملThe clinical significance of the palmaris longus tendon and functional superficial flexor of the little finger in the pathophysiology of carpal tunnel syndrome
Abstract Background: The pathophysiology of carpal tunnel syndrome is associated with increased intracarpal canal pressure. Recently, palmaris longus has been introduced as an independent risk factor for the development of carpal tunnel syndrome. The purpose of this study was to assess the association of carpal tunnel syndrome with the presence of palmaris longus tendon and function...

ABSTRACT Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the most common entrapment syndrome. Median-ulnar motor comparative technique with Median motor technique in carpal tunnel syndrome were studied. In 50 patients with 72 hands with clinically defined carpal tunnel syndrome and electrophysilogic evidence of Median neuropathy at wrist based upon a prolonged sensory nerve distal latency with 30 asymptomatic volu...
متن کاملSurveillance Recommendations in Reducing Risk of and Optimally Managing Breast Cancer-Related Lymphedema
Breast cancer survivors are at increased risk for the development of breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL), a chronic, debilitating, and disfiguring condition that is progressive and requires lifelong self-management of symptoms. It has been reported that over 40% of the 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the United States may meet the criteria for BCRL during their lifetimes. Ongoing sur...
